Megan Lonergan - AG1, Silver, PC's, e-mail: meganlonergan87@gmail.com Bio: Megan started coaching at BETT swim club this past summer (2008). She currently coaches the Silver and the PC groups. Megan is one of BETT swim clubs most distinguished alumni. Megan still holds many club records (see club records), as well as, Midwest all-star records. Additionally, she was a state champion, Midwest all-star champion, Central Zones champion and Speedo Series Champion for the club. Recently, Megan swam for the University of Kansas. With the Jayhawks she swam to the fifth fastest spot on the Kansas 2006-2007 top time’s list. While at Bettendorf High School, Megan was a four-year letter-winner in swimming. Her team won the Iowa State meet in 2001 and 2002. She is the only swimmer in Iowa History to win the 500 freestyle four consecutive years. Megan also was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2003. Additionally, she was a member of the National Honor Society in 2004 and District Swimmer of the Year in 2003 and 2004. She still holds Bettendorf school records in the 200 and the 500 free and the 200 free relay. Megan was also her team MVP in 2001, 2002, and 2004. She also was featured in 2004’s Sports Illustrated faces in the crowd. Megan and her family has had ties with the BETT swim club for years as her brother John swam for the club and then at Iowa and her other brother Mike swam for the club and Evansville College as well.
Stacey Zapolski - Silver, e-mail: indianazaps@comcast.net Bio: Stacey will be starting her first season with BETT in 2008-09. Stacey was a 1986 graduate at Burlington High School (Iowa). She then went on to become a four-year letter-winner at Pepperdine in Malibu, CA. Following graduation, Stacey served as the Aquatics Director and Age Group coach at the Newport-Costa Mesa YMCA for two years. Here she mentored Hailey Piersol and her brother Aaron, who went on to earn 5 Olympic Gold medals and future world record holder. While living in California, Stacey taught 3rd grade for 7 years. For the past 2 years, Stacey was an assistant coach at the Yorktown Swim Club (Indiana), and served as head coach from 2005-08 at Anderson Country Club (Indiana). Stacey has a master’s degree in education, and is also a Mary Kay representative. Her husband, Mike, serves as the Director of Athletics at Augustana College. They have three children- Haley, Luke, & Noah.
Clay Graft - AG1, e-mail: claygrafft@hotmail.com Bio: Started coaching with BETT in 2007. Swam high school for Cedar Rapids Washington. He was a captain of his high school team which won the National Championship High School Team title. He was a varsity member of 3 Iowa High School State Championship teams and a 4 year High School All-American. He specialized in the breaststroke. He also swam for the Cedar Rapids Aquatic Association. Clay works with the AG1 group. He received his B.B.A. in Finance at the University of Iowa.
